They’re quite a new addition, but have soon become the ‘norm’ for anyone who uses Facebook chat on the biggest social networking website in the world.

Facebook smileys

Why are Icons for Facebook secret?

This is a query that has certainly long puzzled those who like using popular internet sites. Why, if there are features such as emotions available, would the company not inform people about them? The answer is evident – if you let us know how to insert them you dirty the screen space and make it messy and more dirty. You also would create a more cluttered and less streamlined website – something that Facebook in particular has been trying to stay away from with their website. It really moves them away, and makes them very special. In fact, it’s quite a sensible take on creating a social network.

Tell me what different different Facebook chat smileys are possible?

There are a huge number of smileys available for you to copy, but sadly users can’t use them in your Facebook status or on the walls of other Facebookers. Currently, the one way to use these Facebook chat emotes is to use chat on Facebook (which you can locate in the bottom right of your monitor, in the newly unleashed ‘Facebook bar’ that is now available when you first sign in to FB).

Here is entirely a simple intro to chat icons, in future postings I will inform you more about the ones that are possible and what to do in order to insert them in your chat box!

In Chinese Facebook there is a new emoticon this evening, the shark. It’s pretty cool I think. I was chatting with my friend on Facebook chat and he asked me if I knew any new decent Facebook smileys. I told him that the only ones I had seen before were smilies from a website I’d seen (I’ll show you the link another time), but then he asked me if I knew any emoticons that I could show him right now. Of course the only one I could remember was the newest Facebook emoticon, the shark!

The Facebook shark emoticon reminds me of Jaws, the popular big great white shark from the movies in the 1980s. It’s pretty cool that Facebook have decided to make an emoticon about the fish, and even more cool that they have made it look like a fish too (the way to do the emoticon is (^^^) which looks a bit like the side of a shark when you look at it in the water.

The head of the Facebook shark smiley is sticking out of the water, a little bit like it’s about to eat someone. I like that. Anyway once again, the Facebook shark emoticon is here, and it’s cool!
